Until you get there you are essentially dieting. My suggestion would be to just do your best, but don't beat yourself up for what you feel is overeating. Just focus on taking small bites, eating slowly, chewing thouroughly, being aware as you eat and try to eat only when you're hungry. Also eat your protein first so you don't fill up on carbs.
